Blue there is a creek back there and also route 99 runs through the photo. It is on the back side of the house as well but you can’t really see it.

first let me say that you have a gorgeous setting there. is that a river nearby, behind the house?

and i feel the same about the deer. we watch them in the field across the road from us. there is something inherently peaceful about deer grazing in a field.

lol – yeah I would say the pony was probably a little curious as well. I just keep picturing that pony charging through the tall grass only now he is foaming at the mouth with eyes as big as saucers. An insane Shetland pony.

Those shetland ponies are dangerous! The deer should be on the alert.

Great pictures and a funny story. The pony was probably as mystified by the deer as the deer were by the pony.

I’m with you. These deer definitely feel like family. They have been here for as long as I have. I think it is definitely a different experience because you get to know the herd by sight, watch the fawns grow up, things like that.

they are beautiful. we have a “family” of does and juveniles that hang out near where we live, and it seems like they’re family in a way. seeing the same deer, day in and day out just seems really different from driving by them in a place like Cades Cove or some random nature-experience…
